Well I had a couple of hours before dark so I asked my mother if she wanted to go for a hike and good thing she said yes.We went to hike some pines that has some flat ground so it would be easy for her to hike because she is going to be 69 next month(she will probably kill me if she finds out I told her age ;D )Well back to the story I had her drop me off about a mile up the road from where she was going to start that way we could meet in the middle some where. We have radios so I can keep in touch with her all the time.I called her to tell here I'd seen a buck and that he was still carrying both and when she answered me back she said that not all of them had both sides so I asked her what she had found and said it was a nice 5pt shed needless to say it did not take me long to head over to see it and get some photos. So on the way over to where she was I ran into a 4pt shed and called here to say I think I might have found the other side.So when we met and looked at them they were a match. I took a couple of photos with her holding them this is the her with the 5pt she found. And then with both. And as soon as I saw them I knew they were from a back that I'd took some photos of back in Oct. They are not the best pics because it was getting dark when I seen him. The only way this day could of been better is if she could of found both of them. That shed is her best find to date.

Great photo shed94 ;D I've only found one set from a buck I was hunting so I know how that feels. Unfortunately, I didn't have a photo of him like you did! That's awesome I see you wish you were in elk country, were you suppose to or ever hook up with my brother (deershed) to look for PA elk sheds? I know he makes trips every year looking for them.

Yeah I did a hike last May with him and had a great time.We hike about 12 hours and only came up with 1 wt shed.Yeah I would love to live down in that area I just started 2 years ago going down and last year I did find my first elk shed.It was just an old cracked spike but hey it was my first!I hope to get a chance to get down this spring and see if I can find another. But as your brother probably said its hard to find them with all the shed hunters after them.

I did when I lived in MD and a few time up here. Deershed looks for sheds in just about all my old hunting grounds in MD. I'm sure he's found a lot of new spots that I never looked in but I really doubt there's any spots in Montgomery County that I haven't looked for sheds in. My total collection was around 80 with six sets. I was really started getting into them good just before we moved up here to NH in 1998. I miss those good ole days The excitement of hitting a new piece of property! Learning the lay of the land, figuring out the deers late winter habits and seeing what to look forward to come next season. You can learn a lot from shed hunting other than just finding some nice sheds! I know I did and a lot of my hunting success was because of what I learned while shed hunting. I really wish I had the time to get back into it like I did in MD. Someday

I went out today for 3 hours with my dog. She isn't trained to find them, but she chews antlers and always has her nose to the ground so hopefully she will help me. Didn't find any sheds or even see a deer. I live in Chenango county.

I think it will be a while before I find some more. It's way early and all the bucks I've been seeing are still carrying both sides.
